What
is RSS?
RSS stands for both Rich Site Summary
and Really Simple Syndication but it always refers to
the same technology.
It
will revolutionize the way you get and read your online
news and blog entries. It is a huge timesaver as you can
just browse through hundreds of headlines all on the same
site and just click on the ones you'd like to read about.
Many
websites now let you subscribe to their RSS feeds, and
you will see the RSS feed icon
when they offer the service. All you have to do is click
on that icon, and it will automatically add it to your
news aggregator. It just can't be any simpler than that!
No longer
will you have to go to each invididual website to read your
news or read your favorite blogs' new entries.
You
will need to subscribe to a news aggregator (which is free),
and there are many to choose from online. Google
Reader is a very popular service, but you may want to
check out Bloglines
as it is a bit more user-friendly.
